Jannah and i aren't feeling that well so we had macaroni soup for lunch
(pork & century egg porridge from 628amk for breakfast but no pics)
so dinner had some salad to go with the macaroni.
honey mustard dressing:
- raw garlic pounded x1/2 tsp or more
- honey x1/2 tbsp
- whole grain mustard 1tbsp
- mayo 1-2 tbsp
- apple cider vinegar 1tbsp
- salt & black pepper

tabao lunch and dinner - felt sick at the end of the day.
can't take too much "outside food"
felt sick after eating so much tabao food, but a hot cup of puer tea helps!

for breakfast, we had croissant and jam.
lunch we had sandwiches from origins and bloom, roast chicken from jason's.
dinner we had pork ribs cooked in black pepper sauce
Recipe
Pork Ribs in Black Pepper Sauce
1. Season Pork Ribs in the following order:
- baking powder,
- salt,
- light sauce,
- white pepper,
- cornstarch,
- garlic oil
2. fry pork ribs in oil till golden brown
3. add green chillis, onions, garlic, black pepper (a lot), curry leaves and fry
4. add black pepper sauce (used singlong brand) and fry
5. add water and cook till pork ribs are tender

prepared some ginger, garlic and shallots paste & ground chilli the day before and made some ginger paste and chicken rice chilli. not sure why the ginger tasted bitter :( so disappointed. and the chicken rice chilli ended up super spicy due to the few chillipadi that i used as those chillis were going to spoil. sigh. well, for the very spicy chicken rice chilli, i used vinegar and sugar to "make less spicy". helped a lot and surprisingly, the vinegar made the chilli sauce very very tasty!! omg, if it wasn't so spicy, i would have just eaten up the chilli sauce with rice!

anyway, made some chicken rice with the ginger paste - the kids loved it so much they ate up the whole freaking lot! omg i was quite surprised.
Recipe:
Ginger Paste
Ginger Paste
1. Grind ginger, garlic, shallots, green spring onions. add salt.
2. in a pot, add oil, then add ginger mix and fry.
3. add salt, light soya sauce, chinese shaoxing wine, sugar to taste
4. add chicken stock, cook and cool before storing
Recipe:
Chicken Rice Chilli Sauce
1. heat the pot. add the cooked ginger paste and blended fresh chillis (mix of red, green, chillipadi)
2. cook mixture. add salt, sugar, light soya sauce to taste.
3. add chicken stock and cook chilli sauce
4. add rice vinegar and/or lime juice.
5. cook and cool before storing.

- uncooked rice
- cooked ginger paste
- pandan leaves
- chicken stock
- salt to taste
- fried crispy shallots
turn on the rice cooker and cook till al dente.
this rice is fragrant and not oily!

no pics, isn't that strange? LOL
also bought some pork ribs, ginger, garlic, shallots, roast pork, braised pig skin
then i saw that my regular pork stall has a contact number!
well, maybe one day i might call...

after work, had lunch at Chrystal Jade with Jac. we were a bit taken aback by a very small cny menu and struggled to order haha took us like 30min to order... or maybe longer than 30min! had some dim sum and fried rice. was good! after lunch, jannah met us and we zoomed to giant tampines. bought some prawns and batang fish...
dinner - simple food at home and no pics ha
prawns @$10 per kg (i got about 600gm of prawns)
batang @$8.90 per kg (chose one fish $15+)

breakfast - finishing up the frozen prata and samy's fish curry from almost a week ago haha. after that, most meals are as simple as possible. been eating too much!cooked macaroni soup on 20 feb and had macaroni soup on sun.
love it! i missed this sooooo much!

ondeh ondeh was from another stall $2 for 4 pcs. that's kinda ex, but it's hard to find them so i bought a pack of 4. sardine puff was $2 for 4pcs.
re-cooked the pig stomach soup.
sent aidan to changi saf ferry terminal, so dropped by at changi village to get some nasi padang dishes (sambal goreng $3, bergedel x4pcs $2) and nasi lemak ($3.50) from the same stall. forgot to take a pic of the nasi lemak - by the time i remembered, i've eaten almost half of the packet haha!! one set comes with chicken wings, ikan bilis, fried egg and nasi lemak rice, sambal & cucumber.

i had to cook the ayam buah keluak & sioh
cooking the rempah mixed with buah keluak
frying pork ribs with lard
adding in the pork ribs into the rempah mix
add water and boil to cook the chicken & pork
thicker gravy after braising the mix and meat

fry the chicken,

then fry the rempah

CNY eve, spent all morning and afternoon and evening cooking cooking cooking...
and i forgot to take pics of the meatball haha. but i will take pics tmr!
(maybe my hands were a mess when i was making the balls
and busy chasing the flies away... and then, i just forgot to take pics! how strange!)

Recipe - Pig Stomach Soup (Re-Cooked)
- pig stomach - soaked in water with salt & sugar
(i did this 3-4 times to get rid of the bitter taste!)
- Chicken bones and feet
- salt & 1tbsp light soya sauce or fragrant soya sauce
- white peppercorns - crushed
- white pepper
- rock sugar

i think i made like 50-80 meatballs, most are quite large Lol
Recipe - Crab Meatball Soup with Bamboo Shoots (Bakwan Kepeting)
- minced pork
- minced prawns (set aside some chunkier chopped prawns)
- thinly sliced bamboo shoots (set aside some for the soup)
- water chestnut, chopped
- 1 egg
- cornflour
- crispy garlic & garlic oil
- this year i added sotong paste, 1pkt
- sometimes i use fish paste, 2 pkts
- crab meat from fresh crab is best
(this year i used crabmeat bought by zhor tzur ko ko)
Recipe - Crab Meatball Soup with Bamboo Shoots (Bakwan Kepeting) cont'd
Mixing Method:
1. mix minced pork, prawns, crab, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, 1 egg
(add crab later if you prefer crabs in chunk)
2. season - salt, white pepper, fish sauce, light soya sauce, mountain sauce, a dash of shaoxing wine
3. mix seasoning and meat mixture together
4. add cornstarch to bind (agak agak). mix everything together till sticky (usually mix in circular motion and in one direction)
5. add fried garlic oil and mix in.
6. if the mixture smells a bit fishy, add more white pepper and mix
7. cool in the fridge to set - for a few hours
8. bring out of the fridge and roll mixture into balls. if sticky, use brine (water + salt) to shape the balls and smoothen the surface of each meatball
Cooking:
1. i used water - boil some water
2. add rolled meatballs and cook. meatballs may float when cooked. remove cooked meatballs
3. once all balls are cooked, add the remainder bamboo shoots and water chestnuts
4. season the soup
5. add meatballs in serving bowl and add soup with some bamboo shoots in the soup.
6. top with coriander leaves and stems
sambal belachan is a must-have for cny meals!

guess what? no time to take pics and forgot also haha!!
but the food prepared looks & tastes so good!
joining us was zhor tzur ko ko, dio dio and hui tzur di di.
we had
- chicken thighs x4 pcs - seasoned with ginger & chinese wine
- shabu shabu pork - seasoned with japanese soy, pepper and chinese wine
- pork balls
- fuchow fish balls
- fish meatballs (bak yee)
- korean pork dumplings
- snapper fish - seasoned with salt, ginger, white pepper, chinese wine, soya sauce
- prawns seasoned with salt, white pepper, lemongrass
- fish maw
- toufu
- chinese cabbage

edna's niece made some pineapple tarts - so cute!
i find it funny to take the pic of the tarts with joey smiling in the background!
and for dinner, we went to a restaurant to celebrate hui tzur di di's birthday. we had half roast duck, fish maw soup, jellyfish, sweet & sour pork, kong bak pao, brinjal fried with pork floss, fu jian noodles
a smiling joey haha!

lunch - went to huber's butchery and samy's curry at dempsey's.
the butchery has an amazing spread of items from europe, usa and australia, we were stuck in there for quite a while looking at the things available!! one good thing about the place... it's expensive! so good thing it is ex, and that would stop us from buying anything haha!!

- chicken masala x4 maryland = $22
(picture of chicken masala came out blurred so i deleted it.

total = $88.81 incl 7% gst
for dinner,
fried omelette with crab meat and whitebait fish
added a few drops of sesame oil to give it the "foo yong hai" flavour.
crab meat & whitebait - stir fried with soya & pepper before cooking the omelette for better flavour.

stir fried chicken breast strips with garlic and chillis,
(soaked the chicken breast meat in brine water for about 1 day... ohhhh so good!)
french beans and carrot,

instant noodles... sick of it already,
altho a typical person might enjoy it...
and my grocery cart before i had breakfast
(shopped at ntuc from 7.30-8.30am, sooooo crowded!!)

well, i had to cook the briyani as the Shan's briyani mix has just expired Lol
we used half chicken and 3 cups of long grain basmati rice.
didn't have curd or yoghurt and green chilli and mint leaves :(
but still tasted good! LOL
Chicken Briyani Recipe:
- chicken - i soaked it in salted water
- Briyani Ready Pre-Mix - buy any that you like
- long grain basmati rice
- jeera & fennel Seeds
- garam masala powder 2tbsp
- ginger garlic paste
- red onions, sliced
- tomatoes chopped
- coriander chopped
- crispy fried shallots (bawang goreng)
- tomato paste
(i used tomato ketchup because i didn't want to open a can of tomato paste!)
this sakura chicken is so moist, so tender and so tasty... WOW.
christen ate the whole breast meat all by himself!
the WOW chicken
i soaked the half chicken in brine for about 30min,
and then boiled it in the briyani curry gravy,
and then steamed the chicken so that it'll be cooked through,
and then placed on top of the rice in the rice cooker with curry gravy,
and then covered the rice cooker and cooked for about 10min.
turned out to be so WOW. seriously.
i don't normally eat that much chicken but
if i had this again, i could finish it all by myself!!
the rice turned out pretty good too!!
for dinner, just had briyani rice and veggies.
no more succulent chicken!!

usually it costs $2 for a plate - i usually only order 1 bergadel and 1 fried egg
but today, i added sambal goreng and found 1 prawn in it!! costs $3 today LOL
found a prawn! hahaha!!
